Coloring Book Rules
This coloring book was created for the Horse Simulation community in order to show my appreciation, as well as encourage player interaction and creativity. The rules are very simple, in sum, do not take credit for my hard work. While as simple as that may be, I will still elaborate for you.
RULE #1: Copyright/Signature Must Remain On The Line Art
We realize that a signature is often hard to work around, and some times can take away from the image. But you can not just remove the signature from another artists work. JF Studios allows you to move and resize the signature, however the signature must remain visible to the naked eye.
RULE #2: Give Credit Where Credit is Due When Ever Possible
To prevent confusion for various reasons, JF Studios asks that written credit for the line arts is given where ever possible. For example, DeviantArt has a Artist Comments section, where the user can give credit to JF Studios or artist JNFerrigno. Due to impersonations we only have two Deviant Art Accounts: JNFerrigno and JF-Studios
RULE #3: Do Not Attempt to Profit From Something Given Freely
Please don’t make me regret freely giving my time and money for this Free Coloring book. I have been doing this since 2002, and if you think it’s an easy accomplishment, then please, be my guest and create a coloring book like this with your own resources, and put into it 10 years of free labor. Examples of profiting from my work would be: asking for Points on DeviantArt, asking for purchasable Game Cash (not to be confused with free Game Money) or other Game Upgrades, uploading my work to a Pay-to-Use Stock site, or using my work to be printed on apparel for sale.
As of 7/13/2012 users will be allowed to create their own Extension Packs and Animal Creators using my line arts. See below for further details.

RULE #4: Do Not Trace/Reference/Copy Line Arts
Tracing, referencing, and copying – is theft. No matter what you call it, recreating a piece of work using my works and then either selling it or not giving credit is considered theft. If you print it, and then coloring it, it must maintain the original signature. You may not print it, retrace it, and upload it as yours.

RULE #5: Line Arts are Not Allowed to be Modified Unless Noted
All lines are able to have their gender changed. Lines with more then one horse in the image can have the background horses removed or isolated. You can use part of the line instead of the entire thing, however the signature must remain visible to the naked eye. If there is a line art that has tack on it, chances are there is the same line art without tack. Adding things to the line art, like manes, tails, tack, ect, is allowed. This is not changing the original lines, just adding to them. What you can not do is apply a filter or change the line color and then resell it as a new line. For more information, see Modifying Line Arts.
RULE #6: Do Not Upload Line Arts to Other Sites
There have been a few times when the website has gone down, and users panic with the loss of their line arts so they upload what they have. Please do not do this. These photo hosting sites are all public, and anyone can take these line arts without being directed to the rules. Aside from JF-Studios.com, jnferrigno.deviantart.com, my old PhotoBucket account, or a coloring book with old art in it created for the VHR community, no other website should have my line art uploading to it. This only applies to line art and creators designed by JF Studios.
SIM Games and SIM Game Owners
RULE #7: SIM Games with Public Image Banks can not use these works
Due to the complications seen with a Public Image Bank, my artwork should not be found within the coding of any SIM game. This also includes Forum based games and other Role Playing pages. If it is allowed in the game, Players may use my line art for their own personal art work within the game, however the previous rules still apply.
My art work, line art, and images created with a Creator should not be found on Howrse.com, any artwork found on Howrse needs to be reported directly to me so I may document it for Legal purposes. Howrse Customer Service knowingly refuses to protect artist copyright.
If you would like to commission me for art, please contact me.

Creators and Extension Packs
RULE #8: You Can Profit from Creators and Extension Packs
But they are not allowed to contain the original Line Art. To help get Extension Packs and Creators out there for the Public, I am allowing users to create their own packages so long as they remove the original line arts before selling it. The reason for this, is that I do not want people to get confused over what it is they are buying. They are not buying the line art, but they are paying you for the time and labor it took you to create a companion pack.
If you have an Extension Pack, such a Tack, or a Creator for one of my line arts, and you would like to share it with the public, please submit your creation so that we can upload it to the Fan Art website and give you credit.

Education & Non-Profit
RULE #9: Teachers, Students, and Non-Profit Organizations may use up to 10 Line Arts for Education
JF Studios supports education and awareness. If you are a Teacher, Student, Riding Instructor, or a Non-Profit Organization (such as a Rescue) and you would like to our line art for educational non-profit purposes, you do not need prior permission unless exceeding 10 Line arts. If you are unsure as to whether or not your project is considered educational and non-profit, please contact us with further information.
Modifying Line Arts
By Modifying a Line Art, we mean the act of Taking Away form the Line Art, not adding to it. For example:
- Removing Background Lines
- Removing Gender
- Changing an already drawn Mane or tail
- Using Just a section of the line art
- Removing the Signature
The signature must not be removed under any circumstances unless user contacts JNFerrigno and gets permission.
The Following Actions are not considered Modifying the line art, and are allowed:

- Removing the Background Lines/Isolating one of the Line Arts from a Group Shot.
- Finishing a Line art that missing some things (there will be some line arts that appear incomplete, because at the time of use, those body parts were covered with something else)
Other things that are allowed fall under “Frankensteining” or “Cut and Paste”. This means taking one piece of line art, and applying it to another line art. The only thing that is allowed is:
- Taking the mane/tail from one JNF Line Art and adding it to another JNF Line Art.
